A friends car was vandalised, it had the rear door kicked in and both mirrors booted off

I was looking for some replacements in the same colour but that looking pretty unlikely.

Can the coloured outer shell be removed and fitted to a working mirror?

yes on a cav.

prise out thin strip(will break if yanked too hard) neatrest door/window and tug carefully.

if the mirror is already in half you can get 2 thin bits of steel ( such as hacksaw blade ) into the top & bottom edges at the end of the mirror & release the catches to slide the mirror cover off without damage.

can someone posta couple of pics of what you mean..I tried briefly, but they didn't seem to want to come off

they should 'just' slide out away from the car when you clear the thin strip nearest the car over its guide.

If you need a brand new shell ready for painting, give me a shout, I have a handful kicking about :up:
