does or has anyone used a calibra for towing. i have just fitted my towbar and was looking for feedback as my 8 valve is about to tackle my caravan next month. ps does anyone no the exact kerb wieght of the 8 valve cally, i have heard around 1280kg?

Parents had a Rover 218 turbo diesel (Peugeot 1900 engine, one of best in their day). It pulled the caravan, but had nothing in reserve.
Told them to get a 2.0 8 valve cav like I had (NE).
They did, and it pulled it much better than the diesel ;)
Good old Isuzu engine that, best engine Vaux ever used.

yes it is a good reliable engine, its not the power that concerns me, it is the weight of the calibra, the max nose weight and the fact that the calibra suspension is quite low dont want to look like a speed boat :bust: :p

If you have the caravan weight distributed correctly, and towbar on car at right height, that won't happen.
Most calibras look a little higher on the back, or at least gap in arch is bigger than front.
The turbo was tow car of the year when it was younger too.
