its not the transponder (chip in the key) i do not have a remote for it either. When the door locks the light where the movement detectors are comes on and then goes out when the door unlocks.. Do you think I should have a remote with it. It is a 1993 calibra.

From vague memory of a 1993 Cavalier, it just immobilises the starter motor. No remote with mine - just set when the car is deadlocked with the key. I don't see why the Calibra should be any different as it's basically a Cavalier under the bodywork.
