Just been reading through the service history log, all filled in so far, but it shows the cambelt should be changedevery service... is this right? its a 52reg club

Vauxhall's recommendation is that cambelts should be replaced at 40,000 miles or 4 years REGARDLESS of the vehicles service booklet which may show change intervals up to 80,000 miles or 8 years!

The cambelt tensioners and idler pulleys should also be changed at the same interval (40,000 miles) as these are more likely to fail than the belt itself but with the same expensive and/or terminal consequences.

I also replace the water pump at the second (80,000 miles) cambelt change because all the strip-down work is already done for the cambelt and water pump bearing failure can cause the cambelt to break! If you want to be ultra-cautious change the water pump every 40,000 miles.
