Hi guys, i am new to the forum, but i am in need of desperate help if anyone can help me out, I have a Astra 05 easytronic, that decided yesterday not to start, I turn the key and the lights come on but nothing, all the lights are on, but doesnt even attempt to start the engine? i have 2 lights on the dash, 1 with the spanner and 1 with a pic of the engine and now the car wont start, or go into gear, had the codes read today, and its p1700 Transmission control system malfunction?? if anyone can help id greatly appreciate it, thank you

Just to note, the place i took it are a reputable auto elec's, but they have told me i would need a new transmission unit costing £708 + vat + programming from vauxhall??

I have a nice car sitting outside that i cannot drive, maybe an easytronic problem then? am sure someone can help me out on this.. cheers

Have you checked the oil level?
I can remember a post a while ago regarding an easytronic prob.
Think there's a Vauxhall breaker specialist near my neck of the probs, that can fit a second hand unit & reprogrammed for about half what Vauxhall charge. Think the transmission units come with a 3 month warranty too. Depends what you want to do? Do you have a Vauxhall breaker specialist near you? May be worth looking through your Yellow Pages. If you don't want to buy new, you could give them a ring.

Thanks boroboy, i'll check the oil today, do you think it would be possible a relay or fuse could of gone that would knock the transmission out?? the car drove perfectly fine the night before, then the next morning nothing happened?? i am really surprised its happened to be honest...
