My Astra G 1.7LB has just developed a metal to metal screech from the off side front wheel area. Firstly I thought my brake pads must be worn so I set about changing these tonight, in the rain. On inspecting the original pads they are perfect with at least 8mm of meat left. What I did notice was as I turned the disc (pads re-fitted) there is a scraping, grinding noise. Could this be the wheel bearing or something else? wasn't going to do any more investigating tonight as I'm soaked and freezing.

Please help with any thoughts.

Cheers

"Spot on that man"
Small stone between disc and disk cover, difficult to spot even in daylight.

Thanks everybody for your suggestions

Cheers
