I was quite suprised tbh, but they're a highly respected company that have nothing but praise from people on seatcupra.net who have used them. Not the cheapest by any means - but IF I do decide to get a remap done at some point, I'd much rather spend a couple of hundred quid more than the cheapest around if I knew it was a reliable company with a tried and tested map. I don't think it's something you can cut corners with. That's a good power gain from a stage 1..🤔 I'd be getting that done ASAP 😂
I've never really worried about remapping before because the only car I've had that could have been remapped up to now is my Mondeo ST TDCi, and I know for a fact that remaps on those cause issues with turbos and the Dual Mass Flywheels etc, so I didn't bother investigating further. For example, I recently purchased a MK1 Leon FR+ 1.9TDI PD150 as a daily car, when I purchased it, it had a "Stage 1" map on it from a local remap "specialist", I looked them up and emailed them some questions about the file. They couldn't really answer the questions to be honest. I then took the file off my car and looked at it in a map editor. OEM turbo on the PD150 is capable of making max 1.7bar boost but they were requesting it to make 1.9-2.0 bar boost. I then emailed them again asked them why it was requesting that much boost and they said it wasn't even though I screenshoted them the data. Turns out like 99% of man in a van remap "specialists" they basically buy discs off ebay with remaps on them, then flash them to cars. Joe Bloggs comes a long in his diesel mondeo with 120bhp, leaves with 150bhp, car feels fast, hes happy, tells everybody man in a van "knows what hes talking about"
Depends on the dealer I guess - I was completely unsuccessful in trying to negotiate any kind of deal on the price of my Leon when I bought it in June. Dealers have had stock sat on their forecourt for ages and have had no money coming in for so long that in a way I kind of get why they wouldn't be interested in moving on prices at the moment.Thats the one, it makes it look less like a van which is great. . . looking into it as dealers are desperate, might hold out for good deal. . .
Oh dear Alex, you have finally made me feel like a spoiled brat. Yes, that is an 8 seater but . . . doesnt have the cool factor . . .You don’t have to spend £50k on an 8 seater. I found a perfectly acceptable Nissan Serena for under £700 online... I mean sure, it is quite possibly the worst MPV ever made and on an old VxON night out once it was the worst taxi I’ve ever been in, but hey we have to try and save money somehow?
