My 2.0 DTI Astra has developed a problem with the electrics. With the lights on when you take your foot off the throttle, the lights dim for a split second and then come back on. This only happens for about 20mins and then goes away. I thought it was a slipping belt and had it replaced, but it still does it. Has anyone any ideas??:shame:

If you remove the air filter box so you can see the aux belt, then put a socket on the lug on the arm of the tensioner (you won’t be able to see it but if you put your arm down you will find it – it isn’t the 2 torx bolts they hold it on) and push towards the windscreen (you will need a bit of force I found using an extension bar works well) and slowly ease back, do this about ten times. Not sure if it’s the official way of priming but it worked for me just watch the belt is still on all the pulleys when finished. If that doesn’t work you could try replacing the tensioner for about £70.
Cheers
Rob
