hi all on the vectra (2.0 auto) X20XEV.
we had to do an engine swap on this after the tensioner went awol. now we dont know if the aircon worked or not before but since we bolted it all together i thought i'd get some gas and give it a go. so i popped to halfrauds, got a £20 bottle of gas and followed the instructions. at first nothing went in. then we loosed the old stuff out and tried again. about 3/4 of the can went in. now the A/C light comes on but it still isnt getting cold. we tried the pressure side and it is indeed pressured. im not sure what else to try? could we have overfilled it? would that make a difference? i dont usually mess with aircon but i'd like to learn.
cheers in advance.

A DIY aircon death kit is a top up bottle only. One bottle alone isn't enough to fill an AC system from empty.

Too late now, but it would have been far cheaper in the long run to pay kwik fit £45 to fill the AC system than buy umpteen death kits to achieve the same goal.

Siraff,

Don't feel too bad as you're not alone.:shake

I've lost count of the number of members who've come crying to the Forum having used one of the aerosols.

As DD says above, just give Kwikfit £45 and have a cool summer.:bananasmi

You know it makes sense. ;)

i dont mind the £45. im just a bit gutted that i got something i thought would work and didnt. it only took about 3/4 of the can (i got the big one) so i thought it had. oh well.

vectra air con

the low pressure side of air con system operates at 150psi. this is the side that has the filler valve. expert told me that the halford kit is not able to fill systems with thet kind of pressure. do yourself a favour get expert to fill it

the only problem with using shitfit or halfrauds as some of them do a/c charging, they wont touch the system if it dont work as its too much of a risk to them, they do check too

best just to go straight to a specialist if the system dont work
