Most likely the springs on the clutch plate rattling. It could also be the lash in the gears causing rattling as its a solid flywheel. Neither are a problem.

If its more of a rumbling sound it could be the gearbox input bearing going bad.

Hi thanks for your reply. It has a duel mass flywheel and the clutch is pretty new. I'd say only done 20k.
I thought it was the box but a mechanic listed to it and said flywheel. It's more of a clattering noise than a rumble

Did you change the flywheel as I thought the early 1.9s all came with solid ones? I may be wrong of course.
Agreed, all these earlier vans were solid flywheel.
