Hello all, my 2013 ( Jan ) cdti A17 DTR engine ( manual box) is beyond economical repair and there appears to be quite a number of cdti DT- coded engines of the period advertised for sale from Astra, Meriva and Zafira's. It would be great to know if any of these other 1.7 cdti engines could replace my original engine. It appears this specific A17 DTR engine was used 2010 to 2013 but I am finding it difficult in finding a 'DTR' coded engine at a sensible price. I would have no problem swapping over any ancillaries to the engine. My concern is my loom and ECU would not suit just any 1.7 cdti engine. Thanks in advance.

You should find yourself an A17DTJ engine...mechanically they're the same. Only differences are for turbochargers and engine's management software...

Z17DTR is Euro4 emissions, yours is Euro5. EU regulations don't allow downgrading Euro norms when swapping engines, I don't know for UK...anymore. But probably similar. Besides this it is a different engine you'll need ECU&wiring, turbocharger etc, your life could be going very complicated...
Stick for A17DTJ which is fully mechanically compatible(as I stated before) or for A17DTR...leave behind the rest engine versions unless you know better ...
