Hi folks,

I've just bought a Meriva 1.6 16v Life (53 plate) for the wife, however one of my colleagues at work has put the fear of god into me by telling me that vauxhall have a problem with the 1.6 16v engines and cam belts breaking.

can anyboby confirm this.

PS car has only done 27,000miles

Only if they're not changed (along with the tensioner and pulleys, i.e. a cambelt kit) every 40,000 miles, or 4 yrs - whichever comes soonest.

As per all Vauxhall engines that have cambelts.
