windscreen wipers

I have an 04 plate Combo van 1.7 DTI My first problem is the windscreen wipers stay on and have a mind of their own, when they do stop they seem to stay about 2 inches up from where they should be..... The second problem is my engine light has come on today, whet could this be or is it best...

Hi. I've got a 59 plate Insignia ecoflex cdti with windscreen wipers that only work flat out and don't always park themselves, although they will do on the odd occasion albeit slowly. Been suggested to me by several people that it could be the relay at fault. However no amount of Google...
