Keywords: Op.com Op-com Opcom Tech2 Tech 2

Due to the many threads popping up about the Op.com scanner I have decided to start this thread for people to add the own experiences, suppliers and problems they have had with their diagnostic code readers/scanners.

This thread will not be used for traders support or sales (although you can post links to traders auctions/web pages) and will be pruned at regular intervals to keep it tidy.

As from now any discussing of how to 'crack' the Op-com software will be deleted. Most other Vauxhall based sites have banned the discussing of Op-com units and software due to copyright issues but we are only deleting posts that explain how to activate or crack the copyrighted Software.

This post has attracted a lot of attention and we cannot afford legal action by the program owners so this is why I have taken this measure.

You can still discuss:

Where you can buy one.
Device usage (error codes and connection problems)

You cannot discuss or post:

Requesting cracked versions of the Op-com software.
How to activate, upgrade or crack the Op-com software (regardless of whether it came with the unit or you downloaded it)

I'm sorry to have to do this but it has attracted so much attention that we just can't take the risk of legal action.

There are various types on Ebay, some have LEDS some haven't, some have an unpluggable USB cable some are moulded but I think the only difference internally is the ROM firmware. From what I can gather 1.20 is the latest version and the unit looks like the third picture in the list.

The second pictured units go 'upto' FW V1.18

Then there is the units labelled 'tech2' that look like the first picture.

Here is a PDF file I found with the details of firmwware revisions which could be useful to someone ;)

Ive just bought this one for ÂŁ26

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290297206696

This is the information on the auction for this unit:

OP-COM - PC based Opel diagnostic program

It covers almost all Opel cars, even new cars with CAN-BUS based diagnostic, such as Vectra-C, Astra-H, Zafira-B.

The program lets you to read out and clear fault codes, shows you live data, lets you to perform output test, and supports remote, and key programming.

The program supports many control units, like Engine, Automatic Transmission, ABS, Airbag, Engine Cooling module, Instrument Cluster, Electronic Climate Control, Body Control Unit, just to name a few examples.
Since Opel uses many pin in the OBD connector, the diagnostic interface works as a multiplexer, and selects the appropriate pin for communication.
PIN3, PIN7, PIN8, PIN12 = Serial Link (ISO9141, KW81, KW82, KWP2000)
Fault codes will be shown with all available information:
Full fault code text description
Full status information (Present, Not present, Intermittent)
You can print out, save, or copy the fault codes to any other application.
From the fault codes window, you can go directly to the measuring blocks window.
The program shows you measuring block information on many control module, you can choose anything from the list on your own. The program is capable of showing 8 measuring block parameter simultaneously. The sample rate is depends mostly on the communication protocol. For example, older system, like Omega-B X 25 DT Engine (ISO-9141-2) can be very slow, during communication, while newer Multec, or Bosch units are faster (using KWP-2000), and the newest CAN based control units are very fast!

You can also run output tests on many controllers.
PIN6-PIN14
PIN3-PIN11
PIN1
HSCAN - Dual-wire, High Speed CAN-BUS, 500 kbps
MSCAN - Dual-wire, Medium Speed CAN-BUS, 95 kbps
SWCAN - Single-wire, Low Speed CAN-BUS, 33.3 kbps

You will get a feedback on the state of the activated output. This will helps you to find the failed components more easily.

The diagnostic inteface is USB port based, so there will be NO COMPATIBILITY ISSUES, with serial to USB
converters. The speed of the communication over the USB-BUS is enough to handle the awesome speed of the High-Speed
CAN-BUS systems, which is currently 500kbps. This is the main reason, why only the USB port based interface is
available for CAN-BUS.
Compared to the TECH2, which is the dealers tool (with a 32 MB card+CANdi interface), the price of OP-COM is quite affordable.

With OP-COM, you can learn keys to immobiliser, and remote keys to the central door locking, or alarm.
You can also reset, and program the following immobiliser related items: ECM, BCM, IPC.
You will need the vehicle security code, which can be found on the CAR-PASS.
You can also reset, and program the Service interval reminder on Astra-G, Zafira, Corsa-C, Meriva, Tigra-B
You can code SAB6, and SAB8 airbags with the software.

The package contains:
1 USB port based diagnostic interface, with USB cable
1 CD-ROM which contains the latest program version
It won't do 92 to 97 cars or the Saabs but should do the couple of jobs I need.

IT WORKS!! :)

I now have no airbag light and ive found and cleared a few fault codes:

OP-COM 070209 - PC based diagnostic tool

Control Unit:
Part Number: 24410128_CG
Vehicle VIN:

Total number of fault codes: 5

00163 - Engine Coolant Temperature, No Signal
Not present

00164 - Engine Coolant Temperature Incorrect Signal
Not present

00002 - Engine Coolant Temperature, Frequency Out Of Range
Not present

00057 - A/C Cutoff Request, no Signal
Not present

00017 - No Engine RPM Signal
Present

00021 - Remote-Key 1 Not Synchronized
Present
Its only running the V1.12 firmware when I thought it would come with 1.18 but its done the job and saved my a sack load of cash that Vauxhall would of charged to put it onto Tech2 :) Now ive gotta figure out what the codes 'exactly' mean.

Key Programming

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update to an earlier thread. My saga of failed attempts at key programming are finally resolved. Turns out I had a faulty interface and the key I purchased off fleabay had the wrong transponder chip in it. Not much chance of programming anything like that. I got the right chip from another key (different lock) and replaced the incorrect chip in my new key. I bought a replacement interface and was able to program this key. I was then brave enough to delete all keys to render the keys I don't have useless and then reprogrammed the two that I have so I now have a working spare - AT LAST!!!! Hope this helps someone else with the same dilema.

Regards,

Old Git )

Edit: All working and tested on my Omega this morning and its sorted! Runs nicely and reset the airbag plus an old code relating to the sunroof and reports running voltages of battery/MAF etc as well as a load of stuff I havent tried out yet...will be trying it on the Sintra later :Cool2:

opcom is origianly hungarian i think AutĂł-M3 Ltd http://www.vezerdiagnosztika.hu/index_en.html
the latest versions are 1.20 firmware with 0805 software

most if not all of the interfaces on ebay are chinese made copies of the real hungarian version with a cracked version of software
but the price is a quarter of the real thing and seems to work ok

The units that work with v1.20 firmware are selling for quite a lot more money than the older models. Unless you think you need the features of the latest FW version, then I would just buy one that works with v1.12 - v1.18 Firmware. I think it depends how new your car is. If your car is VERY new, you would be best to spend more on the latest version.

Since I want it for my 2001 Vectra B, I don't think 1.20 will offer me anything extra for my car, therefore I just bought v1.18 version unit on ebay and paid ÂŁ27.22 for it (including delivery from china). I''l let everyone know how it works when it arrives.

Right guys i said i would post once i received my op-com ...Well i thought i'd take the plunge as i have had so many different oppinions regarding this working on a vista laptop..Well my package arrived today after ordering on the 31st (not to bad delivery to say i bought it at night time on fleabay lol...Well i put the disc in that came with it turned all my virus software off as not to conflict ..i did a scan first though..i got 1 alert but this will be for the crack used i recon...Did what it said in the instructions and it loaded straight away connected interface once i activated it ,went to my car plugged it in to the port under handbrake and it connected with the ecu with no problems ,i believe this is version 1.2 and on the interface where you put model e.t.c in it goes from 1997 -2007..well my car is a 2001 astra g ...

Now here are the functions i can get with this version ,Fault codes, measuring blocks and out put tests also i can print these out as well and you can see all the sensors and maf and what not...i had 3 grayed out boxes (i reckon i would get these if i upgraded the firmware) they are - special functions, programming and further development...Now i am not sure if i am that bothered at this time about the programming which must be to do keys and what not (i don't want to touch that at this moment as i don't have a clue to do it yet so i'd rather not mess with that.) Not sure what advantages i'd get with the special functions ,so if anyone knows could you shed a light on that for me:Cool2:

Maybe i will try and upgrade at a later date or not ,but this defo works on vista just like the seller said and i did not need to run in compatable mode either:D

The seller says in the how to notes i got with it not to upgrade the firmware as this can damage the interface so not really sure with that..But all the things i wanted for a novice are there.. i can clearly use the clear fault codes as the option is there and works on the interface and there was loads of features that i could use in the drop down menu's...So all in all a gamble that up to now has paid off (as long as it keeps working:D) So yes it works on vista and installation was a breeze ...

I wonder if the Vista problems are with upgrading the firmware using a Vista machine, rather than running it with the installed firmware?

I'm sure we've seen positive results now from people using all firmware versions with Vista, but from memory, I think the problems we did see where with someone trying to upgrade the firmware on a Vista machine... I might be wrong there though!!!

Maybe the firmware update doesn't "take" properly when performed using Vista.... and maybe the same with the downgrade back again?

Time will be the judge of this hypothesis!

My netbook is currently running Windows 7 beta (as well as Windows XP), so I should be able to try mine out with Windows 7 too (if it works with Vista, it should work with Windows 7 too), but it'll be good to know whether these units are future-proofed to work with the next version of Windows due at the end of this year!

Just waiting for mine to arrive now... but since mine was a cheap unit being shipped from China, it will be a good few more days yet before it arrives (I would guess). Itching to give it a go though!

In terms of what we can do with these units, should the discussions on using them be in their own thread, or should we contain that discussion in this this thread too? I'd be happy to start a new thread for discussion on using it, and covering what these babies can do... but I don't want to dilute this thread, if you want it all in one place.

Certainly once it arrives, I'd love to pick some brains about using it, as I will want to programme a new key for the immobiliser asap, so I have a spare!

Yeah i would like like to know a little more info from anyone who can help us use this to it's full potential ..I'm wondering if some of the problems some folks are having is with the FW update ,don't really know but like i said mine connected no probs so i might not upgrade it incase it don't work ..I got mine from a uk seller ÂŁ46.99 plus 2.99 p+p i know you can get them from china and what not for a fraction of the price but i did not want the hassle if it did not work say if it was faulty..
