Default Post 02 Vectra handbrake recall

According to today's copy of Which? Vauxhall are issuing a recall on all 2002 or later manual Vectra/Signums for a free handbrake mod. This is 250,000 cars.

I assume this will be a DVLC sourced owner notification.

This was on watchdog, The recall should have covered Corsa, Signum and Veccys!

They said, DONT press the button when pulling h/brake up... (I never do anyway) But my car is of the older UNAFFECTED generation!!

just called the local stealer about something else and dropped this into the conversation - as usual no information from Vx as yet, but having said i suppose that Vx will want to manage the press and public expectations first! as if they've ever done that well!

yeah vectra c's as far as im aware.

Its a mission in itself getting recalls off vauxhall though lol
*All* vectra B 2.2 16v engines were built with the old style chain oil jets, get them changed and end the chain snaps, its that simple.

Just mention watchdog, look it up on their website and print it. Take it with you, leave the car keys and walk out. Tell them to call you when its done. That way they have no choices!

    Thumbs up Vectra Handbrake Recall

I have a Vectra C and Vauxhall has sent me the recall and it is been sorted today. So far it has been hassle free experience.

One thing though I noticed that Vauxhall have also instructed the Dealer (Levoi's) to re-calibrate the Turbo on 2.2 dti - no idea what that is about!

I'm bumping this as my mum's just received a letter from Vauxhall regarding this.

As far as I see it's ALL Vectra C and Signum made between 1/1/02 and 31/12/07.

Here are the details from the AA website

Following a small number of complaints of Vauxhall Vectra and Signum vehicles rolling away due to allegedly defective handbrakes. Same info on the Vosa website, but with additional VIN numbers that are also affected.

this has been on going for years,it is nothing new, most cars that get dealer serviced get the work done foc, most of the problems are for those cars that dont get dealer serviced or done by the owner, recall letters have been going out for at least 2 years if not longer, and it is not just vauxhall as honda have a similar problem with the civic

It may be new to those who haven't had a letter from Vauxhall yet.

This recall was issued April last year yet we only got a letter today, so it stands to reason there's going to be owners out there who still haven't had a letter and don't know about the problem, especially as it covers over 200,000 cars!
