    Hi,

I need to do an oil change on my wife's 04 Zafira Design, but can't find a tool that will undo the sump plug.

Can this only be done by Vauxhall with a special tool?

    Cheers,

    Neil.

Sounds like you need a T45 socket and bar, get one down your local motor factor or as a last resort Halfrauds

If it's the same as my daughter's Corsa or my Meriva then it will be a Torx bit, T45 I think. Don't forget a new sealing "o" ring and don't overtighten.

    Art beat me to it!

Don't bother with the tool, cut out the waste and go to a garage. The idiot a******* who designed this heap of **** put an aluminium (weak metal) sump plug in an aluminium sump, it siezes in every damn time. The torque drive is not adequate (never was) to undo such a thing so every damn time it will need drilling out and replacing. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER waste my money on a damned vauxhall or opel as long as I live (and this last heap of crap was my 8th of that brand. The designer needs to be shot.
Oh, and if you want to get the damned car moved to the continent you will need a 'certificate of conformance' to print this A4 sheet of plain white paper the arseholes want 96 quid!

Vauxhall/Opel doesn't deserve to survive as a brand.

I have never had a problem with these and been doing them for years. You only get a problem if over tighten or don't oil the New o ring seal before fitting.

Have changed my oil 4 times on my van and never had a problem. Got loads of o rings from my work as a plumber so I change it everytime. Sounds like someone's over tightened it to me you don't need that much pressure on the sump plug for it to seal correctly.
