I have the same problem except it's the Traction light and the spanner one and I go limp mode. Previous to this happening I found a split Vac pipe and replaced it used some FORTE cleaner took it for a drive and it went in to limp mode. the guy at the garage read the code to be something to with Torque speed or control or something.. could this have anything to do with the Crankshaft sensor?!

Lloyd Mercer my saviour.....was just about to dump my Zafira 2.0Dti in the bin after being told the "codes say injection pump"! This thread pops up in my farewell google search and is exact same prob...coolant light, eml, no rev counter, erratic revs when ticking over. Give it a try i thought...ordered a crank sensor from ebay yesterday for £24, came this morning, just fitted it (great advice with moving the coolant pipe slightly, trickiest bit i found was having the right spanner/socket to get into the small bolt holding the sensor in). Anyway whole job took 90mins but 45mins of that was that tricky little bolt. Just back from a 25mile test drive and she's running better than ever before...no lights at all..pulling like a spring chicken. Thanks Lloyd and all for saving the day..and probably the car!

Hi, I've got a 'W' -2000 Zafira 2.0DI which is giving the same symptoms of the Engine Management Light and Coolant Level light keeps coming on, the rev counter stops working and the car looses power (sometimes the engine cuts out, but will restart again after a few attempts) The engine codes that initially came up when read were, P0400, P0703, P0725, P1220, P1335, P1631, P1635.
The work I've carried out so far; EGR valve checked cleaned and checked that it is holding vacuum, vac pipes checked for leaks, fuel filter changed and filter bowl checked for any signs of water, glow plugs removed and checked (replaced one faulty glow plug), the brake lights work fine (don't know why P0703 comes up!!), crank shaft position sensor replaced (having read replacing the CPS often cures this sort of problem). There are no signs of a pending head gasket failure and I've checked air filter and Mass Air Flow are clean.
The problem appears to be worse when it's raining and can happen before it has warmed up to full operating temperature in town driving, it always happen on the motorway and will tend to go back to normal after a mile or so driving on normal roads again (but this can be a bit erratic).
Can anyoner tell me the common wiring chafing problems associated with the fault codes I've listed please? Thanks, John

    Hi,
I just wanted to thank you Lloyd, you've just saved me 1000 pounds. I had my 2002 Zafira 2Ld booked in for a new Pump after it had been diagnosed with that problem. In a fit of dispare I googled the problem and found your post. £30 later it runs like a dream. The only advise I can think to add to anyone with the same problem, is make sure you have torque sockets. Thanks again, I owe you one

    Neil

    Hi,

Being an English speaker in France, i found it difficult to get help on-line. Your forum has saved a lot of € ! A great thanks to everyone here and for the precious advice. I had the same issues, and ordered the crankshaft sensor immediately after reading post in your forums. After replacement the motor runs smoothly, no more cut outs, no more "low power" mode. Excellent ! Sensor cost me 38€, and some Torx female sockets another 26€ (Don't even try without these).

    Thanks again.
    Nico

    Vauxhall Astra
Hello guys, i have a problem with my Vauxhall Astra DTI SRI (2003), i bought it just few weeks, car was running fine till last sunday when it stoped completely while i was driving.. Friend found few errors, the most serious error there was (P1222), after error check we found that fuel filter was empty, so we filled it up with diesel and car started. Next day i changed fuel filter and oil, after that car was running ok for 5 days and again it stopped completely while i was driving to work! This time in the fuel filter there was diesel, but it wasn't starting, it started just when it was pulled by another car, but after that Astra stoped completely again and again..
Now again it shows error (P1222) and few others (P0400, U2103). I asked guy from Vauxhall service what could it be and he said that it could be fuel pump which cost about 1500 pound :)))) of course i won't replace a fuel pump, because i can't afford it, i think there should be a simpler this problem solution!
So i want to ask if Vauxhall Astra has that "crankshaft sensor" aswell as Zafira has? and it could replaced by myself like in Zafira? Thanks for your help...
