Can someone tell me the size of rim that vauxhall use for the spare wheel, I have been told 15", 16" and 17" by 3 different dealers and I know it's not a 15" after getting a pucture and finding a 15" rim in the spare wheel cradle, which pi**ed me of no end, currently on 17" alloys and I know the spare won't be an alloy.

    cheers for any help

I have searched but did not find the answer so sorry if this has been asked before.

The wheel may be smaller, but what is the overall radius including the tyre?

I suspect the profile of the spare tyre is bigger to compensate for a smaller wheel, thus giving you the same overall radius as what is on your car. If this is the case, then your spare will be classed as a temporary spare to be used ONLY to get you to the nearest garage to get the main tyree fixed.

thanks for the replys, it's the garage that i bought the car from that is going to have to supply a new spare as they have either bought the car as a trade in and that person has just thrown any old tyre on maybe as their original got nicked just so when they went for the trade in the garage did not take anything of for the missing spare wheel or someone at the garage has taken the spare and stuck any old thing on. The wheel actualy is in bad condition and damaged and also had some glass on it which makes me think it was bought from a scrappy and thrown on. I was just trying to find out what should be the correct spec to make sure the garage are giving me the right one and not trying to pull a fast one.

You might have a space saver wheel , something like a 13" wheels, but the tyre profile and high pressure makes up for the difference. My spare is a space saver that should be inflated to 60psi, when i needed it i found it was inflated to 30psi and it was nearly as bad as driving on a flat. They do look funny when you see one on a car though.
