    Hi all

I will post my error codes care of op-com...five in total after clearing all others , these ones persist, in the airbag area.

The light has been on for about two years all the time.

I cannot afford a complex fix but I know I need this light to go away before next June's mot as new regs in place by then.

    What would you do?

1 stick a black sticker over the light if could get behind the dash

2 kill the light connection...but I read I may then get a note in mileometer

3 fork out and fix... which for me is really a sell the car and get cheaper one as NO cash currently

    ??

Dont you think the MOT testers will see that the light does not come on when the ignition is switched on. Dont bodge it fix it.

Easy to say if you are employed and have spare cash, which I do not.

I have seen a post mentioning to let the car run empty on petrol which will mean the tank light comes on, and apparently a switch off and on , and the lights will not come on until more petrol added.

Going to test this in next few days. All any low cost options most welcome?

find out whats wrong first. I purchased a car where i found some rodney had removed the light becasue there was a fault. And all it cost me to fix was £10, price of 3 pints of booze. You could easily replace the airbag yourself if its at fault.

Hi - I also just did an online chat with the guys as airbagsforsale.com who said they did not have a How To Guide to (find the ECU/other key parts) but would gladly fix it if sent to them at cost. Only video I found on youtube was in spanish involving removing part of the steering wheel, but the airbagsforsale guy said its a part between the gear stick and handbrake. Bit confused on this bit and not really wanting to do / use these guys but was open minded to having a Look Around to see if any wires loose.

Vec B sometimes gets a pre-tensioner warning when moving the seats back and forward because the wiring to the sensors runs through that area, Vec C must have similar wiring (probably more in the same area).
If you want to start doing something cheap to check out the problem, it might be a good idea to remove the tunnel cover and check all the wiring around the tunnel and the seat bases, could be as simple as a loose or corroded connector, or some frayed wiring. I guess you know about not setting the airbags off? If not read up what you need to do to disable them first, just in case you have bare wires and manage to get a short in a way that would make them fire.

Also looks like you have a problem with the left EFS (is that the sensor that got hit?), now since that is a current reading (or lack of) I reckon I would start there, the other codes keep coming back but they might be temporary things that only flag because there is a sensor down, or they might be caused by moving the seat.

OK, so just removed from the Vectra-c the coin/ash tray and plastic below that, the tape cassette bit between seats and had a look around. I am guessing Opel/Vectra do not make cars using yellow stickies as found one scrunshed up and another is around the electrics into the front cigarette lighter socket (which works fine).

I am not too sure how to remove anything else to (A) find or see the airbag ECU at this point. I did see a note saying remove connections to the battery (so won't be doing anything else until tomorrow as too dark now).

Any links to a How To/video/images would be great as most posts in this area on this site and the Vectra website seem to assume you own a Hayes manual or similar.

Yes Boater! the car was hit going round a roundabout two years ago, in front left area. Good thinking. But I do not remember the airbag light being on when we left the garage/ perhaps something came loose - back to the YELLOW stickies... where do I find the EFS (assume I know nothing please). Off to also browse web on this.

you need to sort the air bag out as when the regs come in we have to check the light comes on and then goes off as its meant to,and if driveing about with a none working air bag none of the others will work and also if you have a crash and insurance check they can refuse to pay out as you are useing a car with a safty fault.

The bit under the centre whatchamacallit is the SDM module. A 2007 Vectra C is going to be a full canbus system so you may need to divorce it from the car before trying to replace it with a new or divorced 2nd hand one. It will then need to be re-paired into your system.
