    Hi all,
I have a vectra c 1.9 cdti (120), has covered 74k miles, recently im getting a strong smell of diesel inside the car when the heaters are on, it has become stronger over the past few weeks strong enough that its getting to my eyes...... last night i removed the engine cover looked around with the car running but couldn't find a leak infact every thing was bone dry but did smell diesel around the injector area and again it was that bad that the fumes were getting to my eyes....but bo leak?
    Any idea's anyone?

Pop the plastic cover off the top of the engine and look around each of the injectors.

Must be a leak around that area .

Could it be exhaust fumes from a leaking egr system or a faulty flexi coupling on the exhaust.

Possible.... how do i check the egr and flexi?....
Also ive noticed it is using up more fuel and it can get difficult to start in the mornings.... and when it does you can smell the same smell through the exhaust.....

Could be a fractured fuel rail , not an uncommon problem on the Vectra C 1.9 cdti ( we've had 2 fail on our taxi fleet )

If its a fractured fuel rail would it leak?

The fuel rail is under very high pressure so a fracture could well leak.

Urfy if you know what you are looking for regarding the the egr valve and its associated pipework just inspect every part of it. If you find any large black patches of soot there will be a leak of exhaust gases. The same goes for the flexi joint on the exhaust.

When I had my 1.9 150 Vec the egr pipe actually snapped just before it joined the exhaust at the front of the engine.
