Hi all, im still in shock here, just read on a web review that clutch replacement is an engine out job on these cars, what the hell is that gonna cost at a dealers? on my 2002 1.6 club with 53000 mls it will probably reduce it to scrap value overnight, i'm just hoping that the clutch stays healthy for a while while i try to flog it !!!

quite simple really , just don't take it to the dealer , plenty of independant garages that will do just as good a job for a lot less money.

Master fit, with towing to garage.

New Clutch plates, new slave and new master cylinder.

    £890!!!

They also wanted me to replace the flywheel until I pointed out there was nothing wrong with it.

think you have lost the point there eddie. we're talking about a clutch not a gearbox mate

but you are correct, most of the time a gearbox swap does involve dropping the subframe. i had to do it to mine last week

yup, gearbox off to replace the clutch in order to remove gearbox you remove subframe so it's the choice of engine out to change clutch or remove subframe drop gearbox and change the clutch.

i haven't got an engine hoist so this would be my course of action

sorry to bring up an old topic

but my clutch has just started to slip in the last few days

does anyone know roughly how much it will cost to have it replaced?

    i have a 96 Vectra 1.8 16v

i might replace the slave cylinder at the same time

    ooo

got prices ranging from £350 to £440

BUT i will go for this:

can get the clutch kit and slave cylinder for £130, and a mate is going to fit for £100
