    Hello All

    2004 2.0 DTI Vectra Club
Was driving along motorway, tried to overtake someone, total loss of power, EM came light on!!!!

Took to an independant garage, ran diagnostic and said air filter problem. Changed air filter -£125.00 +vat+labour - no better

    Constantly driving in limp home.

Have read other threads and similar problems seem to be related to ECR valve (or something like that).

Anyone any other ideas/suggestions as to whats wrong? Prob gonna take to a vauxhall garage and dont want to get totally fleeced?

    Cheers
    Aidan

Hi does the ECU light go out and all is fine when you stop and re start then it comes on again after you boot it and re sets again each time you stop if yes then it is more than likely to be the MAF - a word of warning make sure you fit the correct one and match the part number there are quite few Middle eastern rip off ones that actually don't last very long or infact don't work at all a Genuine Bosch is best and they are not that expensive i think the last one i replaced for someone was around the £60 mark
    regards
    Steve

    Thanks gents

The EM light used to go out when the car was switched off and left for a while, but now it stays on all the time, and car permanently in limp home mode.

    Very, very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi i would say from experience the MAF is at fault then unless you can find someone with the same car and swop MAF there is no other way to check it
    regards

    Cheers Steve

MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor??

Do you know if they are difficult to fit, I wouldn't be much of a mechanic

maf's are easy to change look at your airbox then follow the ducting back you will find a box that cuts in with a wiring plug attached thats your MAF
