vauxhall vivaro 1.9 dti 2003 wont start

    hi,
    i have a 2003 vauxhall vivaro 1.9 dti 88000mls basically it wont start only starts with easy start then runs perfect but turn it off crank it again and wont start ive changed the glow plugs still didnt start checked the electrics to the glow plugs no probs with that theres power to the glow plugs i allso tried a glow plug relay device of another van still no luck cracked the injectors theres fuel getting through it hasnt got the rubber nipple on top of the fuel filter so would i be right in believing it has got a electric pump in the fuel tank ? when i turn ignition on i can here the pump allso my friend plugged it in and the faults that came up was, glow plug device relay and it said allso check wiring loom and ecu but ive changed the glow plug relay and it still didnt start but checked wiring loom to glow plugs and thats fine and surely if it was ecu it wouldnt start with easy start i really am lost with it now any ideas would be great thanks

    The pump in the fuel tank runs for about 10 seconds when you turn the ignition on to prime the fuel system.

    hi, yes pump runs for 10 secs allso changed the crank sensor still no joy does anyone else have any ideas ?

    you need to get a compresson test done sounds like the piston rings are done. wouldn't recomend easy start as it's like cocaine to an engine and your van will not start now with out it sorry...

    I'm in a very similar situation, but yet to try a different glow plug relay.

    Get your friend to plug it back in and check what fuel pressure you have on priming and cranking? that will give you a clue as to wether its a fuel problem or compression! just been through this with mine and ended up being low compression on 3 and 4 so put a replacement engine in! job done:)
