[Meriva A] [02-09] Vauxhall Newbie: Dead-locked central locking problem

    Hey all

after 20 years of car ownership I got my first Vauxhall last Saturday (Meriva '05 1.7CDTI Design)

Having a few issues with the remote central locking, and with no year-specific handbook I'm struggling to find if this is user error or a fault somewhere.

    Down to the problem:
if you dead-lock the central locking with the remote keyfob, more often than not you cannot unlock the car with the remote. It goes through the motions, i.e. on the first press the drivers-door button raises and stays up, but the door will not open. If you press again, the 3 remaining doors also raise their buttons, but none of them can be opened.
You have to unlock the drivers door manually, but then of course the other doors are still deadlocked and can't even be opened from inside.
This is obviously a problem for the wife and 2 kids, all climbing in throught the drivers door!

I managed to open them all eventually by driving the car a short distance. I then locked (1 press only) and unlocked the car to see if anything had changed - it hadn't, so I lock and unlocked a second time and, rather mysteriously, everything worked fine.

So, is it just me :shame: or is there an intermittent fault :shake stopping the dead-locks releasing? I dearn't dead-lock the car, and I don't want the wife (she's the main user day to day) to get stuck at Sainsbury's in the rain not knowing how to get in!

    Cheers

I have had two Meriva's, an 04 and 55 plate Design CDTI ecah, neither did what you have described at all. I would suggest you have a fault somewhere, sadly I do not know what. with regards to a dashmounted locking button, neither of my cars had one, didn't realise the Meriva ever had one? If you are lucky, some knowledgeable soul will post a possible solution for you, otherwise its off to the garage I think.
    Good luck, Neil

    Hi Krustydad,

Have an 06 Meriva had exact same issue. Vaux dealership initially replaced all the locks but still didn't work. Second time around they say they changed the relay and reset the ECU - not had a problem since. Sorry as it was under warranty I didn't do it myself so don't know exactly what they did but the above is how they explained it to me! Hope this helps.
