I'm having a go at changing my dash tomorrow, (weather permitting) in the how2's I've read it says to use a two legged puller to get the wheel off, is this really necessary?

Will the wheel not just come off by undoing the nut completely and giving it a huge sharp yank?

and you may collapse the colum by yanking or hitting too hard.

tis best to get a puller.

Leave the nut on a little - people have been known to smack themselves in the face with the wheel when pulling it off. (ooer)

I've done that, undone the nut, then left it on by a couple of screws then gently pulled on it and off it comes, never needed a puller before and done this on 2 of my previous GSI's.
