Hi, the light on the vectra B which is a car with a spanner through it I assume is the service light.

My Vectra has had a full service but this light always comes on. sometimes after half a mile sometime after 2 miles but never goes off unless the car is switched off! :grrr

that not a service light its a fualt light.

what year is the car? you may be able to do the paper clip trick, or even the pedal trick if its newer.

failing that it's getting it on diagnostics.

Its a 2002 Vectra B SRI 130, I had the diagnostics on it and it only read the airbag light fault and the ABS fault, nothing came up for this light?!?!

doesn't always come on, drove 6 miles home tonight and not a whisper..

    Try this.

Sit in the car, key in ignition. press both throttle and brake peddle and keep pushed down, now switch on the car so the dash lights come on and watch that light you mentioned ooop there.

It should start flashing, if it does you have to read the flashes ok.

10 flashes = 0, short pause then for example 4 flashes, short pause 3 flashes, short pause 10 flashes then a longer pause, if you have read correctly the above will read out the code 0430, then the car will go onto the next code if one is stored.

Try it, read it, then report back with the codes.

I'm not 100% but I think on your car (which I'm guessing is a petrol engine with electronic throttle) the t.p.s. is part of the accelerator peddle. If your car has a mechanical throttle cable then the tps is part of the throttle body...
You need to do a bit of research or wait until some one with experience of your problem replies...

i have been having a think about this and it might just need a reset..

try taking off the battery negative lead, go make a brew and have a biscuit watch some tv, half hour will be long enough. then put the lead back on and go for a gentle ride out, see if the light comes back on!! if it does nothing lost, but if it stays off then bonus!!
