Piston rings or valve seals it's defo one of these at fault 52 plate vectra 2.2 82000 miles on clock already had speed sensors egr valve replaced in last 3 mths question is do i scrap it as mot up in March or do I get it repaired bare in mind aa warranty covers up to £500 parts and labour so how much would this job cost if piston rings? and how much if it was valve seals ? Car not lacking power no blue smoke decent amount of white on start up but settles after a decent run but putting in ltr or so in every 400 miles oil grade 5w/30

Strip it for spares or stick it on ebay as a spares or repair, you'll get more money for it than just ringing your local breakers, don't forget if its the one listed in your profile then its an Elite more extras than normal.

Usually if it valve stem oil seals it will chuck a load of blue smoke out first thing in the morning when you start up, and you wont see much after that, if its piston rings it will do it all the time, especially when you coast down a long hill then open the throttle when you go up the other side...Fred in sunny Essex.

I strip cars a lot when I have some time on my hands, you really would be surprised how much you can make on the car parts!

A scrapyard will offer you say 50-70 quid but you could easily make 300+ in spares on eBay.
