    HI,
Just bought Astra sports S reg 1998 MK4... less than 3 days later the key got damaged!

The problem is after contacting vauxhalls dealers "Liverpool" they are unable to offer me the immobilizer code!!!!!!

They first said they want £30... i greed, but then two days later... they say "with the car being 7 years old" they can't or not willing to give me the code!

Is anyone who can help to get me this code... Is there any other way of reading this code!

the car is stuck up the path!

    HELP HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEES...............

Have you got the chip out of the old key?
This is the coded part. You could swap the chip.

    Try this:
Go and get a plain key cut at the keybar. (about £3) attach the plain key and the broken off key close together on your ring, then off you go. The plain key works the locks, and the chip in the old key works the immobiliser.

You cannot do this with a chipped key, even if unprogrammed, as the chips interfere with each other.

Did think of that.... it the immobiliser chip thats damaged!

all I'm getting now is the picture on the dash "crank" flashing!

it will start but then cuts out within 3 seconds, also tried re-synchronising by placing the key into II (ignition) & leaving it there for 1 minute then turning it off, then try it again still no luck!

You will have to get a dealer to reprogram the key. They should be able to do that from your VIN number.
There is no simple way around it, which is just the immobiliser doing its job.

You might get an independant to come to the car and reprogram the car to the new key, try ringing a few and see what they can do.

Go to vauxhall with the V5 and some ID, and ask for a new CAR pass.

It's £15 IIRc, and has all the codes for ECUs, RAdio, CD etc.

You could ask for a new key as well, probably about £30 for that type.
