You'll probably find that they are non adjustable ie they are hydraulic.

And if they're hydraulic, chances are that oil ain't getting to them sufficiently - if at all!

If the oil hasn't been changed regularly the oil passageways might be sludged.

i had a recent oil change plus hydraulic valve lifter cleaning stuff but they are still noisy (this was about two weeks ago).

"If the oil hasn't been changed regularly the oil passageways might be sludged."

anyway i can clean these passageways manually or only with what i have used?

    thanks

lts normally the timing chain rattling and not tappets on those engines. The oilways block up and the chain tensioner then runs dry and lets the chain slap about

    Hi
They didn't fit the 16 valve into a 96 corsa B its an 8 valve and has a timing belt not chain
What oil have you been using ? And which hydraulic tappet cleaner have you used?
Remove the top timing cover and have a look inside Is it a golden brown colour all over or black and crusty? feel the cam lobes are they smooth and have a good contour ?
    regards
    Steve
