LOL, sorry, no, TIS info is as I posted previously and again yesterday

yellow glow plug relay, part# 90226846
glow plug charge indicator relay, part# 90320276
glow period control unit, part# 97150205
coolant temp sensor old part# 94472002 (new# 3439088) assume its the one in the thermostat housing
glow plugs (which you indicate are working by supplying voltage directly)

TIS does not describe a "diesel control module" involved in the glow system at all. I thought maybe there was a chance that Haynes called the glow period control unit by that name, but there really is nothing in TIS about engine speed, no connection with EGR valve, no EGR solenoid valve indicated at all on the X17D, and no connection with any sensor input other than coolant temp sensor.

Anyway, in your case maybe you are better off just rigging up a switch.

Well I managed to find the fault.

Had a new 'diesel control unit-Haynes' or 'glow plug timer- t1'

Tried and still same fault. Tested supply to unit off ignition. Ok. Unplugged relay and checked the 12v black wire of ignition-ok. Checked the brown/white and had 9v on it ???

So thought stuff it I will stick a switch on. Looking for earth on diagram- brown so checked it and that had 9v ??

Followed wire to battery and it had broken off.

Cheers for all your help guys.

    Much appreciated.

    :)

hey nick, thanks for putting up a picture for bilabonic. I described it several times but a picture really helps - anyway he says he already sorted the problem. I believe that now he's asking about the relay box in the engine compartment. I looked in TIS but couldn't find the info. Would you happen to have a picture of that and relay IDs? Cheers, Paul

    Hi nick,

Thanks for the diagram, but yeah, he was asking for the identity one of the relays ("relay with 3 prongs") in the engine compartment relay box if you can find that diagram.

My copy of TIS is somewhat munted now and missing certain info including the engine compartment relays.

    I believe he has a 1999 or 2000 comboB X17D.

    Cheers, Paul

Thanks Nick - interesting, so autodata says there's another narrow rectangular glow plug timer relay in the engine compartment relay box in addition to the relays and control unit behind the drivers footwell cover. This should be of interest bilabonic. Maybe that's the 3 pronged one he has been asking about...

thats the info from an astra f im not 100% sure if they share the same wiring loom ie.. they moved the relays for heating the glow plugs and diesel into the engine bay instead of inside in the drivers kick panel but they are the same engine
