I have got a question about the glow plug light on 2.2DTI Y22DTH engine, My glowplug light does not illuminate outside temperature is 1 degree tonight, I know my sensor for outside temperature isnt very accurate, does this give information to glow plugs on temperature? or is it off the coolant temperature sensor, surely my glow plug light should be illuminating at that temperature, its takes quite a bit of cranking, and its fine once its been started, or the outside temperature is warmer, I put brand new glow plugs in last february, so dont think there would be anything wrong with them, any advice will be greatly appreciated

    Do you have a code?

Could be the gp wiring have you checked it?

The sensors don't assist the glow plugs to my knowledge, the sensors only assist in communicating with the ecu to calculate the maf/map fuel and air mixture and injection calculations but not the glow plugs as these just heat up as a set standard temp everytime.

As said I would be checking the wiring or relay, fuse etc... also cheap plugs don't last so don't totally rule this out if they was cheap.

Do engine management light, will put OBD2 computer on and see if there is any codes stored, I put bosch glow plugs on, I thought the most likely culprit was the relay, as its quite common and car has covered 150k now, I wasnt sure also if glow plug light is supposed to illuminate on lamp test or not?
