    Well, you're really not gonna want to hear this.......it's behind the cambelt cover. So, if it needs to be replaced, you have to remove not only the outside bit of the plastic cambelt cover, but also the inner bit of the cover.
    To get that off you have to remove the cambelt itself and its sprockets, and also the crankshaft pulley wheel (getting the bolt out of that is a real pain!).

    When the stat went on my missus' car I waited until the cambelt was due to be replaced - and replaced the water pump at the same time as it wasn't too dear.

    I would agree with bartman ,i'd do it when you need to fully service the car,but saying that i enjoyed doing mine altogether once i got silly crank bolt undone (man that was a pain to do ).

    infact it aint a temp messure, this is a fully working thermostat designed for inhose fitment, why would you ever want to change the oem stat if its going to fail again? i seen people change them and have the problem again in a year! :shake
