    Can I buy a simple tool to read the fault code ?

    what model corsa is it?

    You don't need a tool for the corsa-c...

    See here (about half way down the page).. there is a way to read codes for free on certain corsa's :)

    Will the fault code reader from Argos do the trick ?

    My local garage charges £30.00 to read the codes so used twice its paid for its self.

    If it says its the EGR valve, how do you reset after replacing the valve ?

    Reset the ECU, it should clear then. On Corsa C's you disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to reset ECU
