The noise appears when you have accelerated in a low gear and press your foot down on the clutch pedal as if you are about to change gear. About a second after you do this you hear a hollow scrape noise only for about a second or so, I would not describe it as loud.
I took it back to lookers and they confirmed there was a fault with the exhaust port on the turbo not opening correctly to let the gas out of the turbo. Vauxhall told them to swap the turbo completely.
I did still notice a slight noise after they swapped it, but now not even a week later the noise is roughly the same as before.
Should the turbo make any noise what so ever when decelerating? if it should not then it might be yet another faulty turbo unit, but it is hard to believe two new turbo's would be faulty!
If anyone could give me some info it would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi.
Is this the sound from the waste gate, which releases unused gasses after turbo spin up.
If you've ever heard a R5 Turbo, its the unmistakable cshhhhhh, between changing gears.
My Combo whistles as the turbo cuts in, but no sound after.
    Good luck.

My zafira 1.9 cdti occasionally makes possibly a similar noise to that you've described.
My car does not do it everytime, but occasionally whilst decelerating and depressing the clutch it makes the noise.
On even rarer occasions its made the noise under a certain driving condition like decelerating up a steep hill then accelerating fairly hard-without use of the clutch.
It only seems to happen in 2nd gear.
I'd put it down to the turbo waste gate -'well i hope it is'.

    Hi,
I've just collected a new 09plate Corsa 1.7CDTi with exactly the same problem. Did this get resolved for you? My dealer has said they cant do anything about it and its normal operation.

had same prob on my 1.7 cdti ,dealer tried software update, still no good, vauxhall recommended new turbo (waited 7 mths for turbo)still the same. mechanic noticed air intake on 1.3 turbo had bigger apperture so he swapped it with 1.7 ,after 8 months problem solved. No flat spot or "cough " when changing gear.

Just bought an 07 Corsa 1.7 CDTI and mine's making this noise too. So far the dealer's said it's a loose hose clip but it's definitely turbo noise off-boost. Will get a second opinion and see how good the Network Q warranty is...
