Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help me. I plugged my phone charger into my Cigarette Lighter and it suddenly stopped working. I am guessing a fuse has blown here but after looking at the fuse box cover, I have no idea which fuse the cigarette lighter is using. Does anyone know which fuse I should check or if there might be some other cause to the problem?

    Thanks,
    el-neilios

most likely its the fuse . in the fuse box there will be pictures and numbers to resemble the position of the fuses. the cigarette lighter fuse will show a picture if a cigarette or similar. there is usually a diagram of what all the fuses are within the fuse panel. if the fuse is blown , you can also check the contacts in the ligher, which may be causing a short.

Cheers for your reply. I have looked at all the icons on the fuse box panel but none of them give any clues as to which the cigarette lighter is. I read somewhere else that the cigarette lighter fuse is the same fuse as the reversing light fuse?

Not particularly familiar with Astra's but chipping in anway as this is farly general...

    - there wont a fuse just for the cigarette lighter I wouldnt have thought; so have you noticed anything else not working, or lighting up when it should?

    - in the handbook there should a fuse diagram and list showing what fuse governs what, and where it is positioned.

may well find you need to take dash/fascia off and re-solder the wire for the cig lighter.... that may well be the fault rather than fuse.

According to the 2002 online manual from the Vauxhall website there is a fuse just for the cig lighter.

It's fuse No. 36, and should be a 15 amp one. (4th row down, 4th one along from the left)

This info however *could* be wrong as I realise that your Astra is a 1998 one, but the 2002 online manual is the earliest one I could find.

Just do what I do, and pull them all out and give them the once over.

There is also most likely a fuse inside your phone charger - the prong end should unscrew off. Might be easier to rule that out first.
