    HELP TECHIE GUYS :think

    Youtube video I recorded : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLaKp6VZo_Y

My car fires up then it revs up to like 2k revs on it's own then just dies!! when it comes down to idle. No matter how much I pump the throttle it has no effect whatsoever on preventing the engine from cutting out.
If I put the foot on the throttle right after start up I get revs but no response after that.
We've looked at the throttle body and injector on start up. It gets fuel everytime then just stops the fuel and dies.I can hear the fuel relay working and the pump.

I've replaced cat/exaust, fuel filter, pump housing, pump, map or maf sensor, throttle body and injector, crank sensor, fuel relay, distributorless ignition system.
    • I've also checked the immobiliser and thats working ok as far as I know.
    • It sparking too on all plugs but also misfires aswell but not everytime just now and again.
    • Fuel Line is fine...I really have no idea where to go.
    • Compression is fine.
Everything was fine before we replaced the rusted fuel tank, its just got worse since to the point I've talked about above.

seeing as u said it was fine before you replaced the petrol tank, personally i would be looking at the sender unit in the tank, is it plugged in? are any of the feed/return pipes on top of the tank kinked or even put back wrong way round? (feed on return, return on feed). did the gauze filter on the pick up pipe on the sender unit look clean?

Hi Nicky, This happened to my old Corsa, and it was the idle control valve ( a lumpy bit with wires on the left side of the engine) - very inexpensive to fix and it was fine after that

right this is weird......i removed the fuel relay and the car works 5 times as long, sounds normal and still injects fuel and dies(30 secs) but with teh relay in it fires up injects fuel for like 2 secs then dies so basiclly dies immediatly......im thinking its a pressure thing....anyone heard of this happening before? the fuel relay was brand new and the old one both doing the same i dont belive they are broken cause they click when fired up. I even hear it pump tunring off.....so lost

ok as you have found your fuel pump relay it is time to do a little test. Look at the socket where the relay was sitting, you should see some numbers. Using a small split pin or similar connect numbers 4 and 8 together. WARNING your fuel pump should run!! See if the car starts and runs now. If it does you may have a relay problem or an ECU issue.
