    Good morning all,

I am about to purchase a 2006 1.6 Zafira, it has 64,000 odd miles on it. Vauxhall (In Southampton) initially told me they would change the cambelt before I bought the car if it was due after after I asked if it was supposed to be replaced at 60,000 miles or 6 years ...

They tell me now it doesn't need doing until 100,000 miles or 10 years ... can anyone verify this at all .. ? The last thing I want is a new car with an expensive engine bill if it snaps :think

I have found this which shows the various intervals but the 06 onwards isn't listed ...

Thanks very much for any advice! (y)

    Hello,

Thank you for that, I was worried!

I don't know a great deal about these engines, so apart from it having a decent service every year, is there anything else I might need to consider at all ... ?

    Thanks for your time!

not really just make sure ypou use good quality parts for the service, cheap and nasty engine oil is just that cheap and nasty.

I confirm it is 100,000 miles or 10 years and fortunately the cambelt no longer drives the water pump so unless this is worn no need to change water pump just because you are having cambelt changed. I chickened out at 90,000 miles and had my cambelt changed with a full Vauxhall kit (rollers, tensioner etc) because that was when a service fell due. As suggested a quality 5W/30 fully synthetic oil is what is required. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GM-Fully-Synt...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b2b2aebc
