Hi, im having problems with my car

Model Astra 1.9 CDTI Sri 5 door
    Year 05
    Engine z19dth

Car was running fine, i had it valeted then used the heaters in the car to dry the seats out the car was then left standing for 4 weeks. I tried to start it a few days ago and no dash lights came on and nothing happened when turning the key, i charged the battery then tried again with the same result.

    Symptoms

No dash lights or starter motor when trying to start
Head lights permanently on when key in ignition even when headlight switch in off position
Rear heated windscreen does not work
Radio, electric windows, central locking, reversing lights, fan, electric mirrors all work fine

I have checked all the fuses and they all seem fine.

Also i can hear the relays clicking in both the front and back fuse boxes when turning the ignition

Could anyone shed any light on what might be the problem

    Thanks Tom

Could be that your ignition barrel is the culprit , either way your going to need an auto electrician unless your pretty handy yourself .

hi i have a similar problem, ihave an astra1.8 04 plate, car was driving fine yesterday and i parked up for an hour on my return it wouldn't start, no dash or attempt to start, headlights on had to call out recovery. the batteryis full and engineer could not determine cause so it is in Vauxall dealership hopefully will find out cause tomorrow hope it isn't going to cost a fortune. They think water has got into fuse box and it has lost it,s coding. i have not driven it in the rain or washed it layely so dont know how it has happened. i will let you know the outcome. If you have sorted yours perhaps you can reply with the outcome. thanks Lin

After being in Main Dealership for a week, eventually fixed. The I P U had to be replaced. The diagnostics cost more than the repair, you would think they would have known what the problem was by the symptoms, but no they have to make some money somewhere !!
