    Hi,

    Sorry.. lots of questions here...

Hoping you can advise. I recently had car serviced for MOT. My break disc's and pads where changed as part of this. After the service my ABS light started coming on. Intermittent at first (it stayed off long enough for me to get through the MOT) but not its on almost constant.

The light goes off when the key is turned but after driving for a while it comes on.

I took it back to the guy who serviced it and he told me to see an Auto Spark to get it looked at.

The auto spark looked at it and said that the reading is that the ABS module is off. He wants me to leave it with him for a day to look at it in more detail.

Anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing it could be a connection issue, a fuse issue or the sensor might be damaged.

Any ideas what the replacement parts will cost? I cant find the sensor on its own for sale... does the whole bearing stuff need replaced to fix a broken sensor?

What is the likelihood that the person who replaced the disc's and pads caused the damage?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Check the wiring for chaffing around were it goes round the body. its common on astras and zafs. Could be a defective ABS sensor which is part of the bearing.

if its one of the wheel sensor then a new bearing off ebay for £40/£50 will sort it, but thinking you really need to get some codes to make sure what the problem is, the pedal trick might bring them up for you, failing that an opcom to read your codes would be the next thing,

Pedal trick wont bring up chassis or body codes, only engine

i had the same on my omega, it turned out to be the abs ecu which on the 3.0 omega is a pain to change

If the light & speedo problem has only happened since the brake pads and discs were changed, then it's likely that the wiring to the front hub has been damaged. I think the speedo is sensed from the nearside front hub, so that's where I would start looking.

Cheers for the advice. I have got a auto spark to look at it again next week. I just want to go in seeming like I know a wee bit about what the issue might be so he doesn't try to stick the arm in. Thanks again. Much appreciate. Great Forum here :)

Left it in with the auto spark this morning. He is going to look for the fault. I mentioned that hopefully it is the wiring. He states that when he looked at it no power was getting to the sensor and that it might be the ECU that needs replaced. He said that he would only replace it as a last resort and that it might take some time to find the fault. He says if its a wire he can order the wire diagram for the car and then run a new wire? Does that should about right? Anyone know if the wire diagram is online anywhere?

Thanks for the reply. How much did that sting you if you dont mind me asking... just so I can get a sense of how much this might end up costing.
