Just in the process of replacing the injector pump, but I need some help with a particular issue.

There isn't the room to take the vacuum pump off the back of the camshaft to see the slot and hole for the timing (mind you I'm not sure that I'd be able to actiually see the slot anyway).

Is there a trick that I'm missing when it comes to removing this, as there just dowsn't seem to be the room behind the engine.

OR... do I really NEED to remove this to get the cam timing right.

I assume that I just need the crank pulley notch lined-up with the mark on the case, and a drill bit through the injector pump hole (which they both were before I took the pump off).

Any suggestions/hints/tips on getting the timing right, and/or removal of this dammed vacuum pump.

    Ta

    Bob

Surely you still need to remove the pump to get the camshaft locking tool on?
