All sorted. Cleaning out the manifold and ports cured it. :) Cheap fix (4 cans of Wynn's)!

Right...we took the inlet manifold cover off to see what we could see...and this is what we saw! Pretty manky, huh? So, we cleaned it off as best we could and reconnected the injector pipes and (tow-)started it with the cover off...and it's still doing pretty much the same. It runs fine...

    Will find out tonight :)

    EGR valve needs cleaning?
  5. SUV & 4WD Vauxhalls
Ok, having read the Haynes manual section about butterfly valves in the intake manifold, I disconnected the blue plug on one of the pneumatic solenoids (don't know the exact name for it), that controls the brown pipe, that goes to (what I presume to be) the butterfly valve actuator on the inlet...

Hi, My mate bought a W-reg 2.2dti off ebay yesterday as a non-runner. Turns out that it's not too bad a car at all though. It's biggest issue seems to be that between 1500 and 2500 rpm it belches out light blue smoke. Tried cleaning the EGR valve, but it didn't make a difference. I've had a...

Yep, that looks like it's got ABS options... What's the score with Opcom? Does it require a different (opcom-specific) lead to work? Thanks, Iain

Hi, Anyone know how to read an ABS fault code on an '06 plate Vectra (diesel)? I presume it requires some software... I've got an ELM lead and a vag-com one that's been modified to access the ABS ECU on other vehicles... Cheers, Iain

Hi, Just wondering if the official dealer parts database is available online anywhere...? Cheers, Iain

Hi, I friend's bought a 2.0 vectra auto. In drive, it'll change up ok but doesn't change down when slowing down. She gets a message on the display saying 'automatic gearbox check' (or similar). Any ideas what it might be? Speed sensor / selector switch? Cheers, Iain

Ahhhh...hadn't thought about the intercooler. Nice one!
  12. Large Vauxhalls
Yep, an old trick that I didn't know about till today. One for the arsenal...tow it till the b'stard starts!

Hi, The friend's Vectra 2.0dti that I have been looking at over the weekend is significantly better now due to a replacement MAF and a new fuel filter. It still seems really low on power though, like there's no boost at all. I've discovered that the rubber hose shown in the picture is not...

Changed the MAF - no more lumpyness/kangarooing Changed fuel filter - better running. I seem to have a turbo hose disconnected though...cue thread #3 ;)

Got it going no problem with a tow-start :D
  16. Large Vauxhalls
Hi, Just changed the fuel filter on a 2.0dti vectra. Now it's not wanting to start at all. Had a couple of coughs from it, but that's all. Is it possible to get an airlock in it? Cheers, Iain

Probably never (I reiterate that it's not my car!!)... Where abouts is it?
  18. Large Vauxhalls
Hi, A friend's 2.0 dti isn't running right. When you boot it you get plumes of black smoke. When you try to cruise it keeps hesitating, like a slow (1-2Hz) kangarooing. Unplugging the MAF makes it run a lot better (no smoke or kangarooing), but it's very down on power (limp mode?). Tried...

They seem to have got away with it... It (apparently) only took 1/2 a pint of oil or so to get it to the max, so god knows how they were reading it before. The cars got running issues though, which I'll start a new thread about. Cheers, Iain

Thanks for the replies... If it's 'just' the turbo, I presume it'll pi55 oil down the exhaust. Easy job to change it or not?
