Meriva 03 radio SAFE MODE problem

I've accidently inserted the wrong code into my radio and am now down to the 6 SAFE reading. I do now have the correct code but am unable to enter it. I have followed the instructions for the audio manual but can't get the START ---- to come up. I've asked my Vauxhall dealership and they suggested leaving the radio on for a couple of hours and letting the unit reset. Tried it without the key in the ignition and radio turns off after one hour. Tried it again with the key in the ignition and it just stays at either SAFE or 6 SAFE, depending on how I leave it. Does anyone have the correct method of sorting this problem please?

you need to leave it on - eventually it will come to the - - - - after the right time has passed - each time you turn the ignition to on it just keeps on adding the minutes up - once it gets to the right amount you can enter the code - follow the hand book and do it right lol
cheers

Hi Steve, I have left it switched on. It's been on for a couple of days without the key in the ignition and it still doesn't reset. I've left it with the key in the ignition (switched on) for three hours but still nothing. I simply swiitch it on and it comes up 6 SAFE and I can't get any further forward than that. All the manual says is it takes 2 mins to reset first couple of times, then 10 mins. After the 9th failed attempt it's 640 mins. Well, I don't want to leave the ignition switched on for that long, just in case I flatten the battery. If I just switch the radion on without switching the ignition on, it switches off automaically after an hour.

Hi, Can you just clarify for the idiot in me please? Do I go out now and switch the ignituion on and leave it switched on for say 10 - 12 hours. Once I've done this it should read SAFE ----? Are you sure I won't flatten my new battery? (As you can see, I'd make a better brain surgeon than a mechanic).

Hi again, Just to confirm with the idiot inside of me. After I've put the key in the ignition, I can turn the key until the radio lights come on or the radio lights and the dash lights come on. Am I okay with just the lights on the radio or do I need the dash lights too? Sorry about being the blunt tool in the box but there's always one eh?

Radio lights is fine - you will not flatten a new battery unless you leave it for a few days -

use the spare key to manaully lock the doors though don't want a scrote taking it away for you lol

Hi, All the manual says is with the ignition on, press the AS button and keep it depressed while you switch the radio on. It should then make an audible sound to confirm and show SAFE ----. The only problem is, I don't get the audible sound. The SAFE message just says 6 SAFE and doesn't shoe the SAFE---- to allow the code to be resubmitted.
