Was allocated a Job in Weymouth for yesterday - carrying out some Emissions analysis aboard the Paddle Steamer Waverley (the only Sea-going Paddle Steamer in the World) - was with a colleague who had been on it on Thursday doing some other work on one of the Boilers and one of our Burners onboard too

We were unable to do much with the Boilers whilst at Harbour incase of visible stack emissions, so we had to stay aboard whilst the ship went for a 3hr Jurassic Coast cruise

So, we both were able to enjoy a fair bit of a cruise that would have normally cost £25 each - not bad really :up:

Working on the steam supply to the Engine, we were granted access to the Machinery Space and were right up close to the impressive Triple Expansion Steam Engine whilst it was running, closer than the Public in the Viewing Gallery

Not a bad day out - apart from I get seasickness, and the Boiler Space was 50C ambient, hotter when you were up close to the Boiler steels and also a little fumey from where we had some test equipment mounted to the furnace but not gas-tight - All of that added together made me a little light headed a few times upon which I would go seeking some fresh air and taking more pictures...

Need a program to stop my nephews going where they shouldn't on my mum's puter?

was using my mums computer the other day after my nephews and been mucking about on it and just out of interest i looked at the history. It was blank so was the cookies folder :mmmm. so they are tech savvy enough to erase the footprints they have left behind but now i want to lock the content they can see.

does anyone know of any decent parental control software that can block the porn sites ect. Short and curlies of it are about 60 to 70ft long, 30ft wide, and 6ft high with brambles and general scrub. Mark and a good friend of mine kept suggesting i should give myself something to do (in fact, Mark suggested i chop a little every time i went for a smoke, would never get done lol)
So, Thursday, i woke up, watched a bit of telly and kept looking out of the patio doors seeing this:


Now, have not done anything to the garden as the landlord has got planning permission to build 3 town houses behind my place (he also owns the houses either side of me) so i didnt intend on doing anything at all as i was told he was going to get his digger in. The plan was to go back about 40ft so i thought bugger it, lets get stuck in. First bit:

Yep, it looks like he is taking a leak but in fact i think he was thinking "feck this for a game of soldiers, Rob can do the rest" so on i carried. I have an apple tree at the back which produces good apples and made it the mission to get mark some apples before i quit for the evening:

Stomped a path about 30ft up, picked some apples and finished for the day.
Saturday, i got my thing going and pushed on, nothing worse than a half finished job so on i trod, cuts, scrapes, sprains, major blisters on both hands but hey ho, push on:

Started on the other side to try and pick up the fence line and go from there:


Yesterday, i finally finished (after having sunday off) and this is the result. The pile in the middle is the stuff i cut down:



Now, i am not green fingered in anyway but just got pissed off looking at the brambles all the time, and wanting something to keep me occuppied for a while (especially as the landlord wont start doing anything till at least middle of next year). Found out its a great stress reliever and got to admit, even though im hurting like a fecker, sore as fook, i feel like i have accomplished something.
Biggest accomplishment is the fact that the only tools i used were the ones in the picture. No power tools or anything like that (mainly as i cant afford to get anything like that) and the hook type tool is actually for cleaning the gaps between paving slabs but as it has a bevelled edge on the internal hook and the external flat, it made an excellent tool for reaching, slicing and chopping (even more so after i 'modified it' slightly lol)

All this took about 18hrs of proper back breaking work. I reckon that even though i dont 'do' gardening, it aint a bad job all in all. Just thought that i would show what a little enthusiasm can do when you put your mind to it.
