I have apx 8/10 weeks ago bought an 'S' Reg Vectra registered 10/98.

Within the last week the EML has been coming on intermittently but a couple of times it has stayed on for apx 5 mins. Every time the light comes on I experience loss of power or limp mode

However, if I were to accelerate it would go off and power back up again  I don't really experience this problem till the engine has warmed up.

At first I thought is may have been the air flow or the EGR, but I have had that cleaned and checked by a mechanic ( I know nothing about cars other than the basics), They also cleared the computer as there was a list full of errors.

For a full 36 hrs after the car came out of the garage I had no problems what so ever, but lady luck was not on my side. I have again today suffered the EML

I took it to the garage that clean the air and EGR etc. This time they the plug the Computer in and got the following errors:

a. P1635 - Glow Plug general error
b. Injection error??
c. critical malfunction ??

Not sure exactly of the codes as the mechanic quickly wrote them on a piece of paper for his boss to look at and then hopefully phone me back with an answer. He then cleared the computer again and the dreaded EML keeps flashing on now and then.

Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just refurbishing the front struts and after a good clean up, the OS ABS sensor looks a bit sad - the sensor itself is OK (working), but the alloy mounting is quite corroded and pushed up on one side.

I have some spare struts with ABS sensors attached and was thinking maybe to swap one of them over. Trouble is, the end of the sensor (the bit close to the toothed ring on the CV joint) is a completely different shape. My existing ones have a round end whereas the spares have a sort of straight edge to them.

So, will they swap over OK or are they incompatible? :think

Any ideas?!!? :Cool2:

Driving up the Motorway, low on Diesel and the fuel light came on as normal (2 galls left)? Drove 18 miles home and parked up. Next morning I started the car but the fuel light was flashing (1 gall left)?
I thought this was a bit strange, so I set off for the garage, but ran out of fuel after about one mile !
The wife turned up with a can of Diesel, and it started after a while,I went to the garage and put £30 in and the gauge seems to be working normally.
I can only think I've got a sticking fuel level sender ?

Has this happened to anyone else ?
Is it an easy fix?
Do I need a new sender ?
Any help would be useful
Thanks - Mick.

Hi all i have today purchased a set of facelift headlights for my vectra (facelift) but i bought with the intention of painting the inside black and adding DRL's. However, i have fallen at the first hurdle. I have removed the rubber that runs right around but cannot for the life of me seperate the front plastic lens from the black rear part to gain access to the inside. Anyone know the best way to do this? Also does anyone have any tips for painting the inside of the lens? Ive seen loads of Vectras with them and they would go well with my tinted rear's. I think the aftermarket Angel Eye type ones are a bit "in-your-face" for my liking so i figured this would be more cost effective and a little more subtle. Thanks.

I would appreciate any feed back about the performance of the 130ps as i notice that they have also changed or made improvements to both the 130 and 160ps, thanks for any feedback.....geoff

I'm getting a flickering oil pressure light at tickover when warm. Car was serviced about 2 months ago at main dealer and oil level is correct. Oil is really thin when it's hot but I know these fully synthetics are supposed to be very thin.

Engine sounds fine, no nasty rattles or rumbles but this light is really worrying.

Do the sensors fail at all or am I heading for trouble?

For info the handbook actually says the light can flicker when engine is idling if hot but I've never had a car do this before, not even my 38 year old Landy before I rebuilt the bottom end. It goes off and stays off above about 900 to 1000 rpm.

Yesterday the EML came on and my motor lost power, however I have now noticed this only happens when she is idling or holding a constant speed for a minute or so. Car feels so slow of the lights in first gear however when I hit second, the light will go out and will pull as normal through out all the gears until I, as I said, we cruise. So it only seems to happen when the engine is not underload. Any ideas?
