Hi
For many years i fancied a vectra since hireing 1 about 8 yrs ago...Now that i live in a town ive bought 1...1.8 16v ecotech hatchback LS P Reg.
Apart from the oil filter being rusted frew i only have 2 problems so far.
1 My fuel gage reads half full even theo when i fill her up so that the fuel pump stops.
2 My engine management light come's on ..After a few miles theres a small stutter from the engine thats about 1 seconds long then the light come's on and the car drives fine. But if i turn the egine of and back on it go's out and mostly stays out for rest of trip.
Any help is help and needed cheers!!!:bust:

problem2:
I wouldt suggest that its not a serious problem
from my experience the ECU unless faulty is just a way for Vauxhall to rip off their customers
if you dont notice a drop in performance of the car
i mean the accelration pickup then dont worry about this ecu problem
hope this helps you

Alternatively do the paperclip test and post up the code it gives...
As for petrol, try pulling the nozzle out slightly so it rests on the notch on the nozzle, that usually helps with the older unleaded cars.

i wouldnt worry to much about the management light going on and off, this is quite common on older cars, its just an out of range reading on the computer, only worry, if it stays ON.
SOUNDS LIKE THE FLOAT IN YOU PETROL TANK, MIGHT BE U/S OR STUCK.
YOU COULD HAVE A SQUINT AT IT YOUR SELF,MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING CONNECTIONS FIRST TO SEE IF THAT IMPROVES THINGS

He's already stated, the light comes on, the engine stutters and the light stays on. It then goes after he turns the engine off and back on again. That to me sounds like there's enough of a problem to me to at least look at it, I'd hate to have to turn the engine off and on again just to drive it. Would drive me crazy if I wasn't already...

Thanks for the reply..Ian not an absolute nooby to cars. Ive tried not pushin the knozel to far in!! to no avale..I will try checking the float and connections thanks.. When my light comes on if i rev it up it sounds like it might be missing but like i said if i turn off and restart the problem go's away..I will try the paper clip trick an post the code as soon as i can..P.S just done it with engine off and got "0335 crank sencor" can this cause the car to stutter ?No code with engine running Should i wait untill light comes on to do test? I awate ur reply thanks again peeps

No, that's fine, the paperclip test just returns the last stored error message. Now we know what the error is I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge should be along shortly to tell you what may be the problem :)
Also, do a search of the forum, this may have been posted before and a quick search may give you the answer you need.
