I bought a Vectra 1.8 16v (Ecotec) on a S plate, after 24 hours the oil light came on and it started to sound like a tractor!!

Turns out the Oil Pump had gone, after repairing the pump, after putting the engine back together, the Engine Management light has come on!!!!!

It has been checked and the computer is not giving out a "code" could anyone think what the prob could be????

Many thanks to anyone who could post an idea or 12!!

I had a similar problem a while ago, just make sure all your connections are connected properly. It can really be something that simple.

sometimes if you can`t get a fault code it can be caused by an after market stereo being fitted as it can be connecting to the diagnostic pin on the radio loom & stopping the ecu communicating .
