Cavalier C18NZ engine wanted!!

Hi guys,

I need an engine for my '95 Cavalier 1.8i.

It's the 8v, single-point C18NZ engine. Anyone got one (or even a complete car) sitting about?!

Must be a good 'un, preferably in Kent!

i could ahve sworn there was one.. how come your after one :-)... you had a fantastic one just a few months back hehehe.

how are things.... things good here... about to do a few wee mods to the drivetrain of the CDX... and that knocking noise i asked about a while back has turned out to be a combination of CV joint and lower ball joint on that side.. so both are going in for repair tomorrow.

tbh best place to look would be a scrap yard,

the 1.8's are just thrown away rather than being sold like the 2.0 16v's etc.

sure if you call around the local scrappies there be plenty about,

Dave, bought another Cav from a user on here.. just couldn't resist!! Hope you sort the CDX.. shouldn't be too dear. Incidentally, read about your request for a C/R 'box - I have an F18 one here from my Astra GSi, perfect condition, yours for nothing.... but it's one hell of a drive as I'm sure you remember!!

Andy - I've tried all my local 'suppliers'!! No-one seems to be salvaging anything off low-spec Cavs now... 8v engines are just thrown away after they've been de-poluted. Shame really!!

Thanks for the offer Envoy, but yeah - I can't really warrant going too far for it! Think it needs to be an 18 anyway as it's going in an auto and they need all the power they can get!

Yup still looking lol.. have been on holiday for two weeks tho, that kinda hindered my progress!

The one in my car was unfortunately neglected by the previous owner and the bottom end siezed solid due to tar-like oil. There was big black lumps of crud in the cam housing, was really gunged-up and must have been making a racket..

Considered chucking a 20NE in there, must have rung all the breakers round here now.

Cheers all - finally got one in the end. Was out of the car and ready to pick up. He couldn't be bothered to remove the gearbox/ Alt/ Starter etc etc so I had to take all that too...
