im looking for a good condition (preferably low mileage) F18CR gearbox.
it MUST be the close ratio box as i already have a perfect working F18W box in my car :-)
anyone got one kicking about?
also the F18W will be for sale when it comes off hehe :-)

F20 will do better.

yeah but they are older.. and a tiny bit more hassle to fit..
i wanna keep things simple.... the only plus of the F20 is that its a little stronger... but its unlikely than an ecotec will put much strain on the F18
just want a standard clutch... and standard gearbox really.

F20s are far easier to fit.
Keep the same clutch.
Got one in my Estate Ecotec. 5th gear pair out of the old F18 for relaxed cruising, and easy box in car clutch changes (not that I'll need another)

does the F20 bolt straight on with no modification of the flywheel or clutch?
i need to be very clear on that one as it needs to be a straight swap with no fannying about hehe :-)
im replacing my flywheel with a lightened one designed for the ecotec (so will fit as if standard) will that be compatible with the F20?
If so.. it opens up my options anyway.... if i cant find an F18cr or an F20 pops up first (in good con) i could use that
let me know mate :-)

yeah but they are either not close ratio.. or for vectras (hydraulic clutch) so neither will do the job :-(

Just saw F18 didn't bother reading the descript as not something I would be interested in myself.

if mark is spot on (as i suspect he is) then an F20 will be a very viable option for me.. esspecially if i can find a nice recent one from say a cavalier SRI. Then it would kinda make my day.
i dont think my mate would like me taking the one off the redtop thats sitting in my driveway :-)
