Software Update for iPod Interfaces
(For software version 5616 or higher on the interface No. 7 607 540 500)
Step-by-step update directions:
1. Download the configuration file (MP3) you need for your radio (Basic, TXT, MD) from here (http://www.blaupunkt.co.uk/infoservices_7_4.asp)
2. Use iTunes to store the MP3 configuration file in a playlist on the iPod.
3. Switch on the car headunit with the interface connected but with the iPod disconnected from the interface cable.
4. Select CDC (CD Changer) mode on the headunit.
5. On the iPod, start manual playback of the MP3 configuration file.
6. Connect the interface to the iPod (via the dock connector), the update will start automatically. (This take less than a minute)
7. Ignore the message displayed on the iPod “OK to disconnect” at this point. This message is created by the iPod itself and has nothing to do with the reconfiguration. Once the interface has been successfully reconfigured, you will see the following message on the iPod display: “Config updated, please restart radio!”
8. Once the update has been successfully completed, switch off the headunit.
9. Unplug the iPod from the interface dock connector.
10. Connect the iPod to iTunes again and delete the configuration file from the iPod. If you do not delete this file your interface will be reconfigured every time you play that file.
11. Switch the headunit back on after a two-minute waiting period.
Now your update is complete. When you restart the iPod, the display will show the new configuration name on the left side next to the software version (SWxxxx).
What are the iPod interface configs? Why is the iPod interface configurable?
In the basic configuration (the way it is when it is delivered to you), the interface responds just like a CDC-A08 (CD changer) – with all the corresponding limitations. This makes it possible to use the interface reliably with most Blaupunkt aftermarket headunits and navigation systems.
A number of headunit models allow for text display via the CDC interface. As a result, the interface can be configured for these radios to show text on the radio display.
Config "TXT" responds like "Basic" (max. 9 playlists, max. 99 tracks /playlist) with additional text display. Config "MD" also displays text and allows up to a max. 999 playlists and max. 999 tracks/playlist.
