i don`t know why i did`nt think of making a thread with a want required.
oh well here goes

I would like a Rear Black Panal, No Badges or Stickers and Definatly no reflectors, (as thats what i have at the mo).

It must be from a hatch and not a saloon, for those or you that dont know the saloon rear panal won`t fit my car.

i have found a pic on here to show exactly what i`m after incase of any confusion.
i would also like to add that if you wanted i`d gladly swap what i have at the moment and depending on distance a meet might be arranged so we don`t have to drive arround with out one. and this would also save postage, however if you are just wishing to sell i can pay via paypal.
please when tellin how much you want for it, can you include postage, ty

Wanted: (ty to cgrextreme for the pic)

Mr Snail Sir, I have a plain Cavalier GSI boot panel with nothing on it. Don't know if it'll fit. Completely unmarked and can post too ;)

It seems that the grey cav in the 1st pic is indeed wearing a GSI item.

I WILL get you pics when it stops raining dude. It's in good condition though. Came from a CDi hatch and has/had no badges on it.

I thought the panels fit both! i've had both off and look the same size etc, just light the rear lights are identical.

the bottom edge is different. The saloon panel covers the whole boot area, but there's a metal strip between the panel and bumper on a hatch.

i know the boot lid is different but if you take off the panels on both cars you'll see they are the same size, the metal strip just makes the panel and lights sit about and inch higher that on a saloon. i've broke a couple of hatchs and i couldn't see a differnece with the panals once they were off!

Snail

ok look, here`s your car, look at your rear panal and notice it goes straight to the bumper, now look at the hatch there is about an inch difference, and yes same thing for the lights

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/534/rearpanal5yk.jpg (http://imageshack.us/?x=my6&myref=http://www.imageshack.us/)

you can tell easier in this pic as its a different colour to the car

i hope this clears it up for you

i`m after a hatch ty ;)

Hairibo

lol i know that but take a tape measure to the 2 panels, they are the same, as are the lights. notice how my boot spoiler is about an inch deeper than yours?????

Same panels but positioned at different heights,

If you dont beleave me look at the back of an old cav brouche or even better take a tape measure doen the scrappy!

Do you at least agree the lights are the same size? cos the lights on that photo are off a GSI as they were the only prefacelight cav's to have grey rear lights, and look!!!!!!!!!!! they are now on the hatchback :-P

CavHopper
23-06-2007, 05:08 PM
Seriously, the lights are the same but the bottom profile on the panels is different! The hatch one is rounded whereas the saloon one is squared.

Hairibo
23-06-2007, 05:11 PM
the panels off my saloons where rounded, bothe the standard one and the Turbo jobby, the old GSI might have been more square, all i'm saying lads is go to a scrappy take off a GSi panel and try it on! if it dosent fit then dont buy it! the face lift panels are all the same!

Hairibo

just looked at tyhe back of to cavs with out rear panels, the sallon in completelty flat, and the hatch does indeed curve out til its flush with the inch flat strip at the bottom, so even thos both panels are the same size, you have to file the back of a saloon panel T THE BACK IN ORDER TO MAKJE IT FIT PROPERLY, sorry fit caps lock by mistake, i still recon it would be worth getting a gsi panel and trimming the back, until you sourse a panel of an old dipolomat of Cd which will be rare i'm guessin, Sorry lads I was wrong, but i was right in thinking they are the same over all size, just the back mountimng is different.

Get your files and sanders out !

I tried a facelift saloon panel on mine a while back and it didn't sit right at the bottom(the profile is wrong behind it)- this is how I know they are not all the same!

The prefacelift hatch panels are notoriously difficult to find as only certain models had them and most of them have long since rotten away!

Hairibo
23-06-2007, 05:24 PM
CD and dipolmat, but surely you can get a gsi panel cheap enough to try modding it to fit?, worth a try, as its been 15 years since a hatch with that panel rolled off the production line.
Gonna be hard to find. Shame cos they do look sweet!

Snail

well my last cavalier has one on it, and if only i could find out where it got scrapped i would go and get it, as far as i know its either in a scrapyard in london or kent, all i remember is he mentioned both of these places in our conversation :( any body finds it, hack it quick as its got brand new alternator on it, i want the suspension back lmao

him turning up 7.30am was a complete surprise and didn`t have time to take these things off, let alone knowing how to :(

Bri, i have a Gsi one here, ive sanded the bottom off and it fitted quite well, all it needs is something to hold the bottom tight to the boot lid as the securing bolts i had broke off but i have trim tape here, yours for Free if you want

EDIT: some pics
